Co-Driverfor BMW drivers

Apple CarPlay voice assistant for BMW drivers

Ask your car anything. Eyes on the road.

Co-Driver knows your exact BMW: its chassis, its engine, its service history and the owner's manual. Ask what a warning means and get a short spoken answer, without taking your hands off the wheel.

For iPhone and Apple CarPlay. Waitlist members get the beta first.

"The car says Drivetrain malfunction, drive moderately. What now?"

Your engine computer found a fault and cut power. Drive gently and get the fault read soon.

Concept of the CarPlay voice screen. Answers are spoken; the screen only shows what is happening.

What drivers ask

The questions you would ask a friend who knows your car

Warning light

"The yellow tyre symbol just came on."

That's the tyre pressure warning. It's yellow, so it isn't urgent. Check all four tyres at your next stop.

Check-control message

"Engine oil level low. Can I keep driving?"

Yes, carefully. Top up at your next stop with the oil type your manual lists. The app has it saved for your engine.

Known issues

"Is a rattle on cold start normal for my engine?"

A short rattle on your N47 can point to the timing chain, a known issue. Have a workshop listen to it soon.

How it works

Set it up once on your phone. Use it every drive.

Add your car

Pick your series, chassis, engine and year, or just enter your VIN. Co-Driver loads the owner's manual and known issues for that exact car, so there's nothing to upload.

Ask by voice or text

In the car, tap Co-Driver on CarPlay and speak. At home, type into the iPhone app. Same car knowledge in both places.

Keep the log on your phone

Record services, tyres and fuel stops in the app. A CarPlay Dashboard widget shows when the next service is due.

Built for driving

Short answers, spoken. Safety first, always.

Co-Driver talks in one or two sentences with the most important fact first. Your music and navigation pause only while it speaks.

  • Red warning: pull over firstEvery red warning answer starts with "pull over safely when you can".
  • It says when it doesn't knowIf it can't identify a warning, it tells you so instead of guessing.
  • Nothing to read while movingNo text answers or menus on the car screen. Logging and settings stay on the phone.

FAQ

Questions before you sign up

Is Co-Driver made by BMW?

No. Co-Driver is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by BMW AG.

Which cars does it work with?

Any BMW with Apple CarPlay, which covers most models from 2016 onwards. The phone app works for any BMW. Live car data needs a car that BMW CarData supports.

Do I need an iPhone?

Yes. Co-Driver is an iPhone app with a CarPlay mode. It needs iOS 26 or later.

When does it launch?

We plan a TestFlight beta for waitlist members first, then a public App Store launch once the beta has proven it.

Does it replace a workshop?

No. It explains what your car is telling you and how urgent it is. For repairs it points you to a workshop, and for red warnings it tells you to pull over first.

What do you do with my email?

We store your email, the car details and price answer you give, and how you found us. We use them only to run the beta and to decide pricing, and we delete them on request.
